Coaching
for writers

One-to-one writing coaching is offered by W r i t e A w a y.

These coaching projects are tailor-made to suit you. They are not a substitute for writing courses, or an offshoot of Social Services.

Neither is counselling part of our remit; you have to be tough to succeed in this profession.

W r i t e A w a y coaches have ‘been there and done it’; tips, insights, and advice are the product of long apprenticeships.

How coaching can assist your writing career.

Personal coaching used to be a luxury for the few; it has always been pedestrian when conducted by post, having all the immediacy of a month-old soufflé. Emailing has transformed ‘distance’ coaching. E-mails are both rapid and inexpensive, and writing progress can be accelerated as two minds overcome problems and sticking points. Use our coaches as sounding boards; if they’ve heard it all before - who cares? Writing has to be a solitary achievement and our coaches understand when to hold back and when to offer information that will assist you as your writing career takes off.

Why a W r i t e A w a y coaching programme? Our programmes are independent and not linked to a particular agent or publisher. They help you establish disciplined writing habits; develop and maintain a lively interest in writing, and thirdly can support you through the launch of a specific writing project; possibly a novel, or maybe a work that reflects a lifelong interest. Select either:

Kick-start           or           Project overview coaching

‘Kick-start’ is intensive, with targets in place within weeks to ensure you stick at it and establish a writing discipline and regime that brooks no slippage. This option will set you up on the professional path then leave you to your own devices. This programme completes in six months; the fee for WriteAway members: half on enrolment £36 (55 Euros), the balance after three months. For non-members the fees are £72 (110 Euros) each quarter, in advance.

‘Project overview’ ensures you formulate then carry through a specific writing project. Whether it is undertaken just for its own sake, or is a serious attempt at hitting a known market need, our coaches will help you structure the project. These mentoring programmes are open-ended; when you wish to 'fly solo' - cut the cord. The fees are negotiable: you decide how much guidance you need and we quote accordingly.

These programmes complement the facilities available to all subscribing members, as of right. Some members are comfortable with coaches, others prefer to seek free advice as and when required.

There are no questionnaires to complete or hurdles to be jumped. WriteAway members can enrol under their pen name or true identity. You can commence and terminate the programmes at will with an immediate refund for any time unused.

We look forward to welcoming you as a Lifetime member of WriteAway.
